With over 24 years of experience in securing resources, creating programs and building enthusiasm for the arts, education and social innovation, Michael engages in deep and enduring relationships that create the possibility to transform individuals, organizations and communities. A former public high school art teacher and school administrator, Michael’s entire career has focused on public and non-profit advancement in both programming and funding. Prior to founding Good Profit in 2011, he served as Development Director at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.

Michael advises Project M, the internationally-recognized design program for positive social change and Basic Initiative, the 30-year-and-counting design/build architecture organization with over 100 projects around the world. He teaches about project funding in the Impact: Design for Social Change summer program at the School of Visual Arts, is Vice President of the Worldstudio Foundation, and a board member of the Blue Ocean Institute. Michael graduated from Franklin & Marshall College and received his MA in Art and Art Education and PhD in Educational Administration with a focus on Organizational Theory from New York University where he focused on Educational Administration with a concentration in Organizational Theory. He continues to be interested in how people make sense of their work.
